


This course is for those who are seeking to gain further knowledge and hone the skills needed to succeed and progress within a career in marketing. Successful completion will equip the student with the specialised knowledge, skills and understanding to support decision making at an operational level within a digital context, and carry out an essential and successful professional marketing role within the workplace.

The CIM Level 4 Certificate in Professional and Digital Marketing is aimed at the aspiring professional marketer who wishes to gain knowledge and skills to succeed and progress within a career in marketing.
Some typical job titles may include: marketing executive, marketing officer, marketing communications executive, communications specialist, digital marketing executive, digital and social media executive, content marketing executive and display advertising executive.

To successfully complete this qualification, students must have a minimum of 80% attendance and commit to self-directed study when preparing for assignments. This part-time course is taught across 35 weeks and is not consecutive as college holidays are taken as indicated on the college website.
Our classes are mostly face-to face, however, there may be the occasional need for classes to be taught on-line and to complete remote self- study when necessary. You will, therefore, need technology that can support the use of Microsoft Teams.
The course consists of four modules:
Marketing Impact
Marketing shapes perceptions, drives demand, and fosters connections, pivotal for businesses to thrive in competitive markets and engage their audiences effectively. In this module, you will learn about the role of marketing in the organisation and the key concepts that underpin the activities of the marketer. You will explore the marketing environment, customer behaviour in the digital age, market research and the marketing planning process. This will include the marketing mix and a tactical planning framework to aid marketing effectiveness.
Planning Integrated Campaigns
In the rapidly changing landscape of marketing, it is important for marketers to understand how marketing campaigns support organisations to interact with their customers. In this module you will gain an understanding of how content plays a crucial role in the customer lifecycle and how audiences interact with both digital and traditional media channels. Candidates will understand how to create integrated marketing campaigns across various channels, online and offline, and how to measure their effectiveness.
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
SEO supports businesses to increase their online visibility, attract relevant audiences, and enhance their digital presence, ultimately leading to improved brand awareness, website traffic, and conversions. This module focuses on the importance of search engine marketing for organisations as part of their digital marketing activities. You will learn the key success factors for Search Engine Optimisation as well as understand effective paid search campaigns to achieve marketing goals.
Social Media Marketing
This module provides the knowledge and skills to develop and implement successful social media marketing activities to promote products, services, or brands, engage with audiences, and drive desired actions. Its importance lies in its ability to reach a vast audience, foster brand awareness and build relationships with customers, making it an essential tool for marketers. Candidates will learn how to apply a range of social media channels and produce suitable content to enhance an organisation’s digital activities.
All modules are taught on a part-time basis across 35 weeks to give you time to focus on your responsibilities outside of your studies.
All modules are examined via an online examination comprising multiple-choice questions.
Once you have successfully completed the CIM Certificate in Professional and Digital Marketing you can progress to the CIM Diploma in Professional and Digital Marketing.
Alternatively, you can utilise your skills to progress to a marketing-related career if you haven’t already or elevate your current job role.

Students are expected to have suitable qualifications at Level 3 (for example, T Levels or A levels) or Level 4 (degree or equivalent). Work experience in a marketing role is also preferable, though not essential. All potential students are required to meet with the Course Manager prior to enrolment to ensure that it is the right course fit for you.
