It suits:  People aiming for entry‑level sustainability, ESG or responsible business roles that require sound operational knowledge and the ability to take personal responsibility for tasks. Those wanting to gain a foundation before progressing to the Level 5 HND or into junior posts such as sustainability assistant, CSR coordinator, ESG administrative support or responsible business administrator. Adults returning to study who want career progression into sustainability‑related functions across operations, supply chains, communications, HR or business support.  The HNC develops core behaviours and transferable skills such as communication, teamwork, research, analysis and stakeholder engagement, which are highly valued in workplace settings.

• Sustainable business practice—CSR, ESG, legislation, operational risks and the practical benefits of sustainable activity.
• Corporate governance and ethics—how ethical decision‑making and governance influence behaviour, compliance and performance.
• Sustainable leadership and management—leadership approaches, management principles and strategies that influence organisational culture.
• Project management (Pearson‑set)—planning and delivering a CSR‑focused project using recognised project management tools.
• Research data and techniques—collecting, analysing and presenting sustainability‑related data to inform decisions.  

On completion, you will have a solid grounding in sustainability principles and the operational skills required to support responsible business activity.
