HAIR AND BEAUTY SALON MANAGEMENT LEVEL 4

This Level 4 programme is supported and approved by the Hairdressing and Beauty Industry Authority (HABIA), ensuring that your learning aligns with the highest industry standards. Tailored for existing or aspiring salon managers, the course welcomes hairdressers, barbers, beauty therapists, and nail technicians who hold a Level 3 qualification and seek to develop advanced practical techniques and management skills while in employment.

The curriculum blends mandatory units in health, safety, security, client care, sales management, public relations, and salon management with a flexible selection of optional modules. Learners can customise their studies to suit business needs, choosing from topics such as salon design, IT and data handling, marketing, human resource management, colour correction, intimate waxing, microdermabrasion, and permanent lashes. Each unit is assessed through a portfolio of evidence and practical observations, ensuring robust skill development.

Throughout the course, you will analyse data, set operational objectives, monitor practices, evaluate stock and equipment, and provide recommendations to increase salon revenue. The qualification prepares you to lead with confidence, enhance client care, and manage sales and operations effectively. Graduates are equipped to provide salon management and leadership, with a strong foundation for continued professional development and career progression in the dynamic hair and beauty industry.

You will need to be qualified with a Hair and/or Beauty at Level 3 (or equivalent) be keen to develop advanced practical techniques at Level 4 and gain a Level 4 Management Qualification whilst in employment.

Throughout the qualification you will plan the management of products and services for your salon. You will do this by:

• Analysing data for planning purposes
• Set operational objectives
• Monitor working practices
• Evaluate stock control & equipment levels
• Provide recommendations to increase salon revenue

You will also research, monitor and recommend improvements to ensure the health, safety and security; the quality of client care and management of sales for your salon.

If you are aged 19 or over and are starting a course at Level 3 to Level 6 you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan from the government, which can cover the costs of your tuition fees.
