Please note that while we make reasonable adjustments to remove any barriers to education, additional fees may be payable where this is not possible. Students must be fully aware of the commitment to this course which involves an 80% minimum attendance requirement and substantial self-directed study. You will also be required to attend an induction and pre-arranged individual tutorials. Teaching methods include lectures, seminars, facilitated workshops, and case study analysis. The weeks stated are not consecutive and college holidays are taken as indicated on the college website.
Our classes will be face-to face teaching where possible. However, there may be the occasional need for classes to be taught on-line and to complete remote self study. You will, therefore, need technology that can support the use of Microsoft Teams.
Teaching hours are reduced in the 2nd year to allow students to complete the research and self-study requirements for two of the modules: Business Research in People Practice, and Personal Effectiveness, Ethics and Business Acumen.
Most units are assessed by one or two pieces of work using a variety of assessments methods such as an assignment, case study or project. The Business research in people practice module starts at the end of the first year, and continues over the summer with data collection, and completes in the second year.
Once the Diploma is completed, this reaches the final qualification provided by the CIPD taught at the University Centre Farnborough. Further studies could be continued at a Masters level elsewhere.
This course is a postgraduate equivalent level course. Students are expected to have had relevant work experience and be academically qualified. This means either an appropriate degree or the CIPD Level 5 and a number of years’ experience in a people management role. An interview with a member of the teaching team is required, prior to, or at enrolment and this will be completed at one of the open evening events run by the College or via a remote Teams call.
It is a requirement of this course that you take out CIPD membership once you have started your course – please see the CIPD website for the latest offers on student membership fees. Please note that the CIPD Level 7 courses are not available under the Advanced Learner Loan Scheme.
