This degree is aimed at students who wish to develop their skills and portfolios to work in the diverse graphic design industry. You might currently be studying a Level 3, A Level, or Access to Higher Education course; be returning to education after a break, or wish to transfer from another higher education institution. It may also be possible for you to join this course in its second or third year following relevant qualifications and/or experience in the workplace.
On this course, students will be given a thorough grounding in a wide range of design subjects and creative practical skills. The programme offers you the opportunity to develop your skills in more depth in a range of commercial graphic design topics, including work placement in the design industry. The final year of the programme offers you the opportunity to focus on your select pathway of interest in the field of graphic design as well as undertaking a major personal project.

In addition to taught modules, a final year project will allow you to choose a topic to investigate in greater depth. Recent examples have included packaging design, branding, publication design, web and app interface design.
A wide range of assessment methods are used in this programme, which have been chosen to suit the subject material being taught. The range of assessment methods used in this programme includes in-class tests, practical work, coursework, assignments, examination, practical demonstrations, and production report and project presentations.
Applicants must have a portfolio of creative work showcasing their current design and creative skills and experience in a creative subject.
