Thinking of a career change? Ever wanted to be a teacher? Our teacher training courses can help you start your career in either primary or secondary school teaching.

Teaching Training at University Centre Farnborough combines school placements with classroom learning at our Hart Campus in Fleet.
The teacher training courses include:
Our Primary courses are designed for those who want to become Primary School teachers. You will be awarded Quality Teacher Status (QTS) at the completion of the course.
We have three routes into Primary Teaching:
Whichever route you choose, our experienced lecturers will develop a wider range of skills for you to take to the classroom. From crafting engaging teaching materials, to delivering lessons and assessing work, our courses will prepare you for a career in teaching straight after completion of the program.
As you progress through various placements, your confidence will grow as you apply theoretical knowledge and gain first-hand experience in a modern educational setting. Our intimate teaching approach fosters small classroom settings, allowing you to develop close relationships with fellow trainee teachers and your lecturers.
We offer a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) course for those who already have a degree and would like to teach at secondary school. The course includes Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), so you can apply for roles as a newly qualified teacher straight after your course. We offer courses in Geography, Physics, Biology, Mathematics, English
As a secondary school teacher, you will teach students aged 11 to 16. You will teach a curriculum that is primarily based on teaching key Stage 3 (Years 7 – 9) and Key Stage 4 (Years 10 and 11).
Our course teaches you key aspects of being a classroom practitioner, including evidence-informed teaching and pedagogy, subject specific teaching sessions, and wider professional studies, such as behaviour management. The curriculum also includes sessions on special educational needs, supporting English as an additional language, and embedding literacy. You will develop skills in planning, teaching, assessing, and go on placement to gain invaluable hands=on experience, as well as completing two weeks at an alternative placement.
These degrees are designed for teaching assistants or learning support practitioners with a relevant level 3 qualification who want to take the next step in their career. This could then lead to beginning teacher training courses.
On our foundation degree, you will attend weekly evening classes that connect theory to your work to gain an overview of the sector. You will learn about managing a positive learning environment, providing personalised support, and much more.
After completion of a foundation degree, you can convert your qualification to a full degree in one year through our top-up degree. Your skills and knowledge will be taken to a higher level in preparation for teacher training or more senior positions in an educational setting.
Our courses in FESS are created to train you as a teacher for settings where students are aged 14 years old and above. These courses cover any subject that can be taught to college-aged and mature students, which are typically linked to specific industries and careers.
Many students choose these teacher training courses as they want to switch careers but still want to put their industry knowledge and experience to use. The experience that industry professionals bring to the classroom is highly valued by colleges. If you are looking to become a teacher in this setting it is usually possible for you to begin a new role and train as a teacher alongside your job. This makes careers in this sector very appealing to those wishing to change careers without delay.
The Professional Certificate in Education (PCE) is designed to train those who have not studied a university-level course before, while the Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) is tailored to those who have a qualification at university-level.
